Curriculum Options

Bribie Island State High School joined the International Student Program offered through Education Queensland International in 2007. As part of this program, our school provides the following study options:

Study Abroad Program

These programs provide students with an opportunity to attend our school for 1 term (3 months), 1 semester (6 months) or 1 academic year (12 months). International students participate in the normal academic program with our students, allowing them to integrate into the school community and improve their English proficiency.

Group Study Tour Programs

Study Tour Programs range from 1 day visits to 10 weeks. The programs include intensive English lessons, integration into the classroom and excursions to popular tourist destinations.

Subjects Available

Some of the subjects most popular amongst international students include:

Film, Television and New Media:  students explore the design and production of media products in a range of creative and journalistic contexts, learning to critique the ways in which meaning is constructed and audiences are manipulated through the media.

Marine and Aquatic Practices: students take to the water to learn about boating practice and boat safety. In the subject they will swim, learn about lifesaving, practical boating, learn how to capsize and re-right the boat, engage with marine biology and develop ocean orienteering skills.

Physical and Recreational Studies: students engage actively in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor sports, both team and individual.

Dance: students study the art form of dance, learning its history, it’s historical importance and development and take part in practical choreographing and performance tasks.

Drama: students study the theatrical arts, developing a range of acting techniques across all of the theatrical genres.

    *The final date for Year 12 students is Friday 17 November 2017, with Years 10 and 11 finishing on Friday 24 November, 2017.
