Location

Bribie Island is a popular tourist destination located less than one hour’s drive north of Brisbane, Queensland’s capital city. Bribie Island is a 34 kilometre long sand island, national and marine park, linked to the mainland by bridge. Bribie Island boasts pristine beaches and waterways, providing many opportunities for a variety of watersports and camping adventures. Bribie Island is separated from the mainland by the Pumicestone Passage Marine Park which has 24 Islands and is bounded by 240 kilometres of shoreline. The Pumicestone Passage has safe family beaches and calm water. Hire a boat or drop anchor for a spot of fishing, or enjoy a cruise up the passage to take in all the beauty. Dugongs frequent these waters to feed on seagrass and dolphins and turtles also make the passage home as do over 350 species of bird. If you prefer a surf then head to the eastern side of the Island. The heritage listed Glasshouse Mountains and world-class beaches of the Sunshine Coast are also within an hour’s drive of Bribie Island. See ourbribie.com.au for more information.

Local Community

A strong sense of community exists on the island, hence the community is very supportive of the school. There is a local bus service, including a school bus service. The bus service has a direct link to the Brisbane rail network. Bicycle pathways and the size of the island make bicycling or walking to school easy options as well.
